Plowing ahead

Race bibs have been ordered. Logo creation is steaming forward. Portopotties and tables for aid stations have been priced. There's still quite a bit left to do and I really wish the snow would go away.

Announcing the New England Limited Marathon

The New England Limited Marathon will be run on April 4, 2009, at 8 am.

The course is on the Air Line Rail Trail. The surface is crushed limestone.

Plans are to limit the race to 75 people. Parking at the start is limited. Please carpool.

Read about the history of the Air Line rail line.

A map of the course can be found here. I am working on certifying the course. It might not be certified by race day (the semi-weekly 5 inches of snow isn't helping things in this regard) but it will be measured accurately.

I plan on having aid stations at:

2.1, 4.5, 6, 7.9, 9.3, 10.5, 11.2, 12.7, 13.4, 15, 17.2, 19.3, 20.5, 23, 24.5

It's possible that I'll eliminate the station at 10.5/12.7 depending on volunteers.

The course is not a pancake but there are no hills. There are some slight inclines that go on for a while, but you'll get that all back going the other way. It's definitely possible for it to be a PR course.

You'll run over several wooden bridges, by some ponds, through some forestland, and you might even see a beaver in the wetland on either side of the trail that extend for almost a mile.

Registration forms will be posted soon, hopefully within a few weeks. Among other things, I still need to figure out how much to charge.

I don't plan on adding a half-marathon option but a relay might be possible.

Updates as news warrants.
